Aikido Come & Try 1 - Week 7
Oriam, Edinburgh
Aikido taster session in Studio 1.
Come and join the Heriot-Watt Aikido Club!
The Aikido come & try sessions are for everyone, whether you already have some martial arts experience, or have never even thought about it trying something like this before!
No equipment is needed, though we'd advise loose comfortable clothing like a t-shirt / tracksuit / leggings. We'll also ask you to remove your socks (as we train on mats) and any jewellery for safety.
The session will start by introducing you to how to safely recover from tripping / falling / being thrown. After this you'll learn how to break the grips of someone who has got hold of you, knock them off balance, then ultimately moving on to a number of techniques to take people to the ground after they have attacked you. At the end there will be a few short demonstrations of what you will learn over the next few years should you decide to join, including competition and weapons work.
